Sending Files from Mac to Windows the Easy Way

Updated July 2026 · 4 min read

The Mac ↔ Windows gap

macOS talks to macOS beautifully. The moment you add a Windows PC to the mix, AirDrop, Continuity and iCloud drop off. SMB shares work but require network config most people don't want.

Fastest option: an online clipboard

Open copycloud.me in Safari on the Mac. Drop the file, get a 6-character code. On the Windows PC, open Copy Cloud in Edge or Chrome, tap Retrieve, type the code - done.

What about large files?

For everyday files (screenshots, PDFs, small videos) Copy Cloud is instant. For anything above the current per-clip cap shown on the Send tab, split the file or wait for the upcoming Pro tier.

Copy text and code snippets too

Copy Cloud handles plain text as well as files. Paste a shell command on the Mac and grab it on your Windows dev machine - no Slack DM to yourself required.

Security notes

Every clip is HTTPS-only, hidden behind a random 6-character code, and auto-deleted after 24 hours. For sensitive content, delete the clip manually once the other device has it.
